Did you know you might have money waiting for you? The Texas Comptroller defines unclaimed property as any financial asset that has been abandoned by its owner for one or more years and is valued at more than $250. This can include uncashed utility billing deposit refund checks, payroll checks, vendor checks, etc. When businesses are unable to contact the rightful owner, these funds are turned over to the state and held until claimed.

If you have ever moved, changed jobs, or done business with a company that may owe you money, it is worth checking. To find out if you have any unclaimed property, visit ClaimItTexas.gov. It is free, easy to search, and could help you recover money that is rightfully yours.
